Tending the Gifts of God
My well-beloved has a vineyard on a fertile hill.
Isaiah 5:1
November 11, 2024
Dear parishioner, dear friend in Christ,
Christian Stewardship refers to the responsibility that we, beloved disciples of Christ, have in maintaining and using wisely the gifts that God has bestowed. We are collaborators in the redemption of the world. In this, we are called to share our time, talent and treasure.
November 17 is Stewardship Sunday, when we focus on the third of these, treasure. On that day we will all be invited, more formally, to step out in faith to make a pledge for next year, a financial expression of gratitude to and trust in the Lord, here at ASA, our spiritual home. Some of you may be feeling financially insecure at this time. What is important is not the amount but the act of giving back to God in gratitude and trust in some meaningful way. Many of you have already been generous in different ways with your treasure. Thank you!
Three considerations as you discern what the Lord is inviting in terms of financial commitment for 2025: stewardship of treasure
Together we are called to tend the gifts of God, His vineyard on His fertile hill. Trusting in the Holy Spirit, we look forward hope-fully to the future. We seek indeed to be collaborators in the redemption of the world, knowing that “with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).
“The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. My love to all of you in Christ Jesus.” (I Corinthians 16:21)
Yours gratefully,

- begins with prayer, and then becomes part of the offering of our whole selves to God.
- is a freely-given offering that is planned, i.e., is budgeted and not haphazard.
- is a generous, sacrificial gift, i.e., not simply a transfer of surplus funds.
Together we are called to tend the gifts of God, His vineyard on His fertile hill. Trusting in the Holy Spirit, we look forward hope-fully to the future. We seek indeed to be collaborators in the redemption of the world, knowing that “with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26).
