Fearless Giving
God did not give us a spirit of fear,
but rather a spirit of power and of love and of sound mind.
II Timothy 1:7
November 1, 2022
Dear parishioner, dear friend in Christ,
Christian Stewardship refers to the responsibility that we, as beloved disciples of Christ, have in making wise use of the gifts that God has bestowed. By God’s grace, we are nothing less than collaborators in the redemption of the world. In this, we are called to share our time, talent and treasure.
Speaking of treasure, November is Stewardship month. On the last Sunday, November 27, during Mass, we step out in faith to make our pledge for 2023, our financial expression of gratitude to and trust in the Lord, here at ASA, our spiritual home. Some of you may be feeling financially insecure at this time. What is important is not the amount that you give but the fact that you give, back to God, in gratitude and trust, in some meaningful way. I know that many of you have been generous in different ways with your treasure. Thank you! Your generosity supports various aspects of our parish life: our Sandwiches in the City, theological lectures, electricity, assistance to persons in distress, guest preachers and our amazing choir, to name a few.
Three considerations as you discern what the Lord is inviting in terms of financial commitment for 2023: stewardship of treasure
In a spirit of fearless giving, knowing that the Lord Himself stretches our stony hearts to life-giving generosity, we look forward hope-fully to the future at ASA. We seek indeed to be collaborators in the redemption of the world.
“The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you. My love to all of you in Christ Jesus.” (I Corinthians 16:21)
Yours gratefully,
Fr. Dominique

- begins with prayer and then becomes part of the offering of our whole selves to God;
- is a freely-given offering that is planned, i.e., is budgeted and not haphazard;
- is a generous, sacrificial gift, i.e., not simply surplus funds.
In a spirit of fearless giving, knowing that the Lord Himself stretches our stony hearts to life-giving generosity, we look forward hope-fully to the future at ASA. We seek indeed to be collaborators in the redemption of the world.
