Blessings Jon Musser!
We have had the blessing of Jon Musser, “our” seminarian, in our midst for the past 18 months. His field placement with us has come to a close, and he begins a new chapter in his life, that of ordained priestly ministry. The exact ordination date is contingent upon his being called to ministry in a parish (he is currently in discernment with a few parishes).
There is a tradition of a parting gift, of a “purse”, i.e. a collection, intended to help the new priest as he begins his ministry. Jon, and his wife, Julie, are both beginning new chapters, and thus any assistance we can offer in gratitude and as an expression of hope for them, is most welcome. Jon will be preaching Sunday, May 28, and his last
Sunday with us will be June 4.
You may make a contribution to this purse by check or cash. Your gift can be either placed into the offering plate or mailing it to the parish office. Please make sure it is marked clearly for Jon & Julie Musser so you may be properly acknowledged.
Potential contributors should note that as the proceeds of this effort will go to Jon & Julie Musser personally IRS regulations do not permit these specific contributions to be deducted from taxes nor will they be included in year-end giving statements.
Farewell to Adam Kline
We wish Adam Kline all the best as he begins a new chapter. He is moving to Virginia, where he will be a member of Holy Cross parish. Adam has been a parishioner at Ascension and St. Agnes for 6 years, during which he has generously shared his gifts with us in many ways: Vestry, Youth ministry, Altar Guild, Grounds Guilds. He also helped to re-launch the tradition of the Blessing of Animals in relation to the feast of St. Francis of Assisi (October 4), started the tradition of candy distribution on All Hallow’s Eve (Halloween) and pioneered the ministry of “Ashes to Go” at the parish on Ash Wednesday. Adam we will miss you, but we know that, in Christ there are no miles. Let us hold one another in prayer, until our paths visibly cross again.
